“I’ve already tried the AI thing.”
He tried free ChatGPT, a couple prompts, then he went back to doing everything himself.
Every AI tool you've ever touched is the same horse wearing a different harness.
A guy who builds AI agents for a living, Nityesh Agarwal, put this better than I ever have. The model, GPT, Claude, Gemini, whatever, is the horse. Raw horsepower, nothing more.
The harness is the layer wrapped around it. What it remembers. What tools it can reach. How it talks to your business.
ChatGPT's free chat box is a harness. A thin one. Little memory of your last conversation. No access to your files. No instructions baked in. You reach your limits incredibly quickly.
Claude Projects (a saved workspace that remembers your context between chats) or Skills, those are harnesses too. Same horse underneath. Heavier tack.
So when you tell me "I already tried ChatGPT and it felt surface-y," you're right. That's exactly the problem, and it's not the model's fault.
You rode the horse bareback for five minutes and decided the horse wasn't fast enough.
It was never the horse.
Build the harness once. Load a Project or a Custom Skill with your actual pricing, your voicemail script, last month's client emails, anything it needs to sound like your business instead of a stranger's. Now every question starts from what your business already knows.
That's the gap between "write me an email" and a system that writes your emails.
Your business AI guy,
Matthew Brenner
