Every neighborhood has that garage.

Car under a tarp. Engine hanging from a chain. Three more projects stacked behind it, each one started with total confidence.

Nobody in there is lazy. They just start faster than they finish.

I've coached hundreds of business owners, and I'd bet your AI chats looks the same. The email assistant you got 60% done. The follow-up bot that doesn’t really work. The thing that was going to read your reviews. Ten ideas, zero running.

Here's a number that stuck with me. HCLTech surveyed 500 enterprise decision-makers.

90% said AI has changed how they work. Only 18% said it's making them real money.

Same tools. Same access. Nine out of ten are standing in the garage.

The ones who profit pick one number before they build anything.

Not "save time." A number. Hours a week on email. Days to answer a new lead. Minutes to build a quote. If you can't name the number, you're building a hobby. And hobbies don't make significant money.

Here's the fix. It's boring on purpose:

  1. Dump all ten ideas on one page- or whatever you have so far.

  2. Next to each one, write the number it would move.

  3. Pick the idea tied to the biggest number. Park the rest. Parked, not dead.

  4. Run it for 14 days and write down the before and after.

That's what's different this time. You're not starting an 1th project. You're finishing one.

Nobody ever made those ten ideas compete for a single slot. That's the whole problem.

🎁 Thirst Trap Thursday: The Garage Audit

❝

I'm going to paste a list of AI ideas I've started for my business. For each one, tell me: (1) the single number it would move (hours, dollars, or days), (2) how I'd measure it before and after over 14 days, and (3) how much work is left to get it running. Then rank them by biggest number moved per hour of work left, and tell me the one to finish first and why. Here's my list: [paste your ideas]

Paste it into Claude or ChatGPT (or even better, just talk to it using Wispr) drop in your list, and you'll have your one car by lunch up and running,

Every neighborhood has that garage. Don't be the house. Finish one car.

Your AI guy,

Matt
